1900 Le Théâtre is a club inside a building more than a century old on Ta Hien Street, in the heart of Hanoi's Old Quarter. Unlike many newly built clubs, 1900 carries a long history. The building was the Quang Lac theatre, built in the early 20th century and home to traditional stage plays. In the 1990s it became Hanoi Roxy, then stood empty for almost twenty years. In 2016 it reopened under a name that recalls when it was born, with the tagline “Where every night is a show”.

Its reputation reaches well beyond Hanoi. For three years running, from 2022 to 2024, the club appeared in DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs, the worldwide poll voted by electronic music fans, placing 40th in 2023 and 44th in 2024. That is why the crowd mixes Hanoians with international visitors exploring the Old Quarter.

What really sets 1900 apart is the layout. Instead of tucking the DJ away at the back, the club raises a podium in the middle of the old auditorium so the dance floor wraps around it on every side. Wherever you stand, you are close to the music, as if you had a front-row seat at a performance.

Look up and you see a steel rig running across the high ceiling, carrying spotlights and speakers. The sound system is L-Acoustics, covering the whole hall evenly. Velvet stage curtains fall from the ceiling, curved walls are painted with cloud motifs, and the stage at the far end glows gold at the peaks of the night. Compared with many Hanoi clubs, 1900 gives less room to tables and more to the dance floor.

Electronic music leads. House, especially Afro House, keeps the whole floor moving steadily around the podium. Techno, above all Melodic Techno, takes over in the late hours when haze and spotlights fill the hall. Weekends add Hip-hop nights with guest artists stepping onto the stage.

The week is split into three easy-to-remember programmes. Daily Dose runs on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday nights. Tuesday is Ladies' Night. True to its theatre name, 1900 also stages performances: some nights an aerial hoop artist dances among red lasers, other nights a catwalk in gold silk cuts through the crowd, ending in a shower of confetti.

According to its Google Maps listing, 1900 opens nightly from 9 PM to 3 AM, seven days a week. The closing time has not been officially confirmed by the club, so if you are coming as a large group, call the hotline to check first.

To get a spot right by the DJ podium and settle in before the crowd arrives, come early. To walk straight into the liveliest atmosphere, pick a Friday or Saturday and arrive a little later. The door policy changes with each night and each event, so ask before you go to avoid surprises.

Because the dance floor surrounds the podium, every spot at 1900 is close to the stage; the difference lies in the kind of night you want. Tables by the DJ podium sit right at the rim of the central stage, facing the DJ and the performances, at the very heart of the show. Standing tables by the floor line the edge of the dance floor, easy to come and go from, ideal for groups who would rather dance than sit.

The club's address is 8B Ta Hien Street, Hoan Kiem Ward, Hanoi. Before 1 July 2025 the area belonged to Hang Buom Ward, Hoan Kiem District, so older and newer maps sometimes label it differently. The club sits in the middle of the Old Quarter, not far from Hoan Kiem Lake.

The surest way is to search for “1900 Le Théâtre” on Google Maps, which leads straight to the entrance. Ta Hien is busy with people at night, so if you arrive by taxi or ride-hailing app, meet your group at one point and walk in together. 1900 admits guests aged 18 and over only. Bring an ID card or passport for the check at the door.

The club is busiest on weekend nights and guest nights; if you want a fixed spot for your group, book ahead rather than asking on arrival. Since the floor is large and people gather around the podium, agree on a meeting point inside the hall so nobody gets lost.
